We are now in a full swing of being back at school. How are children adjusting and settling? Have they been possibly quite tired? Generally speaking, when children are tired the common thing is to cut down on physical activities to help them to rest and recharge; actually it may be counterproductive as children may be lacking physical activity to get the bodies going instead. Did you know that Australian Health department recommends that children from 5 - 18 years old need at least 60 minutes a day of physical activity? That physical activity should range from moderate to vigorous activity and at least 3 days a week these activities should involve exercise to strengthen muscles and bone density. Gymnastics provides holistic development. Children experience activities from weight bearing on legs and arms to rotations, spinning, tilting - all planes of movement which is also essential for stimulating the inner ear (sense of balance). Classes at The Little Gym last from 45 minutes to 1 hour, that will help you to tick one of the one hour of vigorous activity a week that Australian Health department recommends.
